8/15/12

I have officially begun my first RIT experiment. Yesterday I finished my project, so today I began testing. I was able to get five people to come in today, some with more useful data than others. All in all, though, the experiment has been going better than I had anticipated. Tomorrow I'll have several others come in, including a friend from outside the building. I plan to finish all my testing this week, analyze the data next week, and finalize everything just in time for the presentation. It will be difficult, but not too much to handle. The powerpoint is all set up and just needs some more information. And I've also begun my movie for the intern challenge. If anybody would like to be tested, let me know!

Today's discussion went very well. My questions received good answers, though they did not draw up much discussion. We got the privilege of meeting Kenneth Holmqvist, a major author of our book! There were also several other new faces who all gave great input and taught me more about eye tracking and its advancements. My project was completed today, and I dry ran through it to be ready to administer the test. Testing will begin tomorrow!

8/13/12 Late

The stress level declined throughout the day as I realized that I am not really behind! As I arrive back, the SMI goes back up and people can finally start their projects, including me. I just need to tweak mine and it will be nearly ready. The analysis is what worries me, but I'll make it work the best I can. The powerpoint is not a difficult task, and in fact, I might have a hard time with keeping information out, rather than coming up with it. I am looking forward to the presentation, and I believe I will do great. Tomorrow I will finish up and get my consent form out.

8/13/12 Morning

I am just coming back from a week vacation and I must say, I feel a bit behind, even though not much went on last week. I just feel pressed for time with so much to do. I have to read an entire chapter of the book overnight, work on a Powerpoint of which I do not yet know the objective, build an experiment, and run it. This is all a bit much to handle, but I'll get it done if I can stay focussed. Off to work!

Friday

8/3/12

Neither of my advisors were here today, so the entire day was spent fixing up pages for my project, as well as making the consent form and beginning to organize the actual experiment. There was the weekly cook out and the daily coffee break as well, which livened up the day. I believe my slides are, for the most part, finished, so now I can focus on my experiment!

Thursday

8/2/12

Today consisted, initially, of mostly Photoshop for my project. However, since it was the last day of the intern challenge, we all began to work on that. I met with Cassie, my partner, a few times. We aligned as needed, found many clues, and eventually were able to solve the challenge. The day was very good for team building based upon the task that troubled all of us for the week.

The answer to the challenge:

Today I did not see our professors much, so the entire day consisted of making slides for my project, which proved very productive. Also, the lunch video was quite interesting, as was a few intern activities. It was not a very eventful day!
